Silvia
(Silvia Christoff, “The World's Only Female Clown (1867); the toast of Europe for over a decade)
My new bear from my collection of middle sized bears is called Silvia, so named after this style of pierrot, or clown. She is made from a lovely fur in swirly off white.
Silvia is created in the traditional style of bears from the Victorian era, with wired black glass eyes, metal and card cotter joints and embroidered features. She wears her multi coloured voile ruffle and her pointed hat, with bobble buttons to finish.
Silvia is heavily weighted with steel punchings,
she is stuffed with wood wool, polyfibre and also mohair scraps to replicate the waste materials used in Victorian times to save money.
Silvia measures 24.5cms.

My bears are made from 100% mohair, silk, alpaca or viscose, with the occasional faux fur and plush thrown in!
They are 5 way cotter pin jointed, and some of my minis are string jointed. They have wired glass eyes, some of which are hand blown antique glass.
My bears etc. are generally around 11cm tall when seated and so are classed as miniature bears, although they can be quite stocky fellows!
The bears are filled with lovely, clean steel punchings
and some polyfibre stuffing.
These are collectors' bears made using materials and traditional components that make them unsuitable as children's toys. Every one arrives with a signed and dated certificate.
