Colburn
(Old English meaning: burning log)
Colburn is another bear from my collection of larger bears.
He is made from a lovely new mohair, reddish brown, lush, so soft and very long.
I think it is a tiny bit redder than in these photos.
Colburn's fur reminded me of burning flames, so he is aptly named. He is created in the traditional style of bears from the Victorian era, with wired amber glass eyes, rimmed with lace whites, metal and card cotter joints, plus a shiny black glass nose.
He also has tiny thread whiskers and a waggy tail!
Colburn is heavily weighted with steel punchings,
he is stuffed with wood wool, polyfibre and also mohair scraps to replicate the waste materials used in Victorian times to save money.
Colburn measures 24cms.
Colburn is £62
Please email Penny at: [email protected] if you would like to adopt this bear.
Postage prices all include 'signed for' tracked delivery:
UK: £5.50, Europe £11, U.S.A. £13.50, R.O.W. £14
I should be very grateful if overseas adopters would pay 'send money to friends and family overseas' to avoid the PayPal fees.
My bears are made from 100% mohair, silk, alpaca or viscose, with the occasional faux fur and plush thrown in!
They are 5 way cotter pin jointed, and some of my minis are string jointed. They have wired glass eyes, some of which are hand blown antique glass.
My bears etc. are generally around 11cm tall when seated and so are classed as miniature bears, although they can be quite stocky fellows!
The bears are filled with lovely, clean steel punchings
and some polyfibre stuffing.
These are collectors' bears made using materials and traditional components that make them unsuitable as children's toys. Every one arrives with a signed and dated certificate.
